Young People's Housing Forum
ypsupport@knh.org.uk
The Young People's Housing Forum was set up in March 2005 and is a group of volunteers aged between 16 and
25 who get involved with various projects aimed at improving housing services.
There are no regular meetings. Instead, members are contacted when projects arise to see if they are interested
in being involved. Therefore people only participate in projects that interest them.
Sometimes, projects can go on for months but other times forum members are only required for a one-off
consultation event or a postal survey. Whatever type of event it is, we try to make it fun.
Volunteers find that being involved with the forum is rewarding and that it boosts their confidence. In many
instances, we give vouchers to participants as a thank you for their time.
Recent projects have included devising a reward scheme for young tenants who stick to their support package and
the creation of a citizenship DVD for High School pupils around the responsibilities of independent living.
