Release Date: 31-Aug-2011
Have you ever wanted to suggest ways in which the service provided by KNH could be improved?
If so, then getting involved in the new Tenant Scrutiny panel might be just right for you.
Kirklees Federation of Tenants & Residents Associations (KFTRA) are offering an exciting opportunity to be part of a panel which will be looking in detail at the housing services which are delivered to Kirklees tenants.
You need to be able to put aside your own views and listen to what everyone has to say before you make up your mind.
This work will build upon the excellent work which is already undertaken by the tenants’ movement in Kirklees.
The panel will provide an independent view of the procedures, processes and performance of the housing management service delivered on behalf of Kirklees Council by KNH, and will help to highlight what is good about the service being provided and where improvements can be made.
The panel will produce two to three reports in the first year which will make recommendations to Kirklees Council and to the KNH Board of Directors outlining how the identified improvements can be implemented.
Each scrutiny inquiry will involve four to six panel members to be part of the investigation process, which will last about three to four months.
To ensure a good level of representation, KFTRA are now looking to recruit at least 24 people to join the panel.
Panel members will be required to conduct in-depth research into individual topics, talk to staff and tenants and residents, and help to prepare the final reports.
To be a member of this exciting project, you will need to be enthusiastic about making a difference, able to respect confidentiality and carry out the tasks which will be assigned to you.
In return you will gain an increased knowledge of the housing service which is delivered in Kirklees, improve your personal skills, gain in confidence and be given the opportunity to make a real difference to the service which tenants receive.
KFTRA is working with Kirklees Council’s Scrutiny Team on this project and will be offering two information and recruitment events for anyone who is interested.
