Use your 2011 KNH discount card to save money and help local businesses

Release Date: 10-Jan-2011
You should now have received your new 2011 KNH discount card.
More than 230 locally owned and operated businesses have joined the scheme this year, enabling you to save money on a wide range of goods and services. The scheme also includes great offers from its two major corporate members – Kirklees Active Leisure, which runs the municipal sports facilities in the district, and Huddersfield Town FC.

Launched in 2007, the discount card won the prestigious ‘most innovative project’ award from the National Federation of ALMOS in the same year.

It was the first scheme of its kind in the country to have been completely developed in-house by staff from Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing (KNH) and tenants’ representatives working with business owners to develop a “local card for local people.”

Simon Rogers, Chief Executive of KNH, said, “we are really pleased to be launching the 2011 discount card.”

“Unfortunately, some of our local businesses fell victim to the recession last year and we were initially concerned about the impact this would have on the scheme. I’m delighted, therefore, that so many have stayed with us, and that an equal number of new businesses have joined for the first time.

“These are difficult times for our customers as well as the businesses, and the card is one very practical way we can help them make the most of limited budgets. So I hope everyone who gets a card uses it. They’ll save money but they’ll also help support local businesses, which are an essential part of our communities.”

The card is sent to all members of the KNH Excel reward and recognition scheme. To qualify, you must:

- be a secure tenant or a leaseholder;
- have a clear rent or service charge account or if you have arrears, have kept to a repayment agreement for at least 13 weeks;
- have no tenancy breaches

If you haven't received a card but think you qualify, please call the Excel team on 01484 223246.
