On a KNH apprenticeship, we can offer you everything you need to build a successful career and be part of the workforce of the future. We can’t guarantee you a job at the end of it, but you’ll gain the skills and experience needed to give you the edge in today’s competitive jobs market.
Our apprentices work as part of a team so you need to be able to work well in a group and take on responsibility when you need to. You’ll be involved in a wide variety of work so you need to be dedicated and good at managing your time, particularly as you will also be studying for a qualification.
We have opportunities in the following areas:
• Business Support
Providing clerical support to our managers, you will gain experience of general office duties as well as organising and minute taking.
• Project Support Officer
Working with our project managers, you will learn skills in a range of business support tasks such as organising conferences and consultations events, using your ICT skills to create and maintain databases.
• Estate Caretaking
Working with our housing officers and other teams, you will gain estate caretaking/handyperson skills to KNH customers to keep our estates safe, clean and tidy.
• Customer Services
You’ll get experience of working in a frontline team supporting customers using our Choose ‘n’ Move service, providing phone support and producing the weekly property newsletter. You will also take calls and respond to emails for the neighbourhood teams.
• Housing Officer
Working under supervision, you will learn aspects of housing officer duties, such as reception and customer service; property application, allocation and termination; estate management; and community activities
• System Support Officer
You will learn about various services and administrative duties related to the IT customer service desk as well as help our consultants support and train system users.
The length of our apprenticeships can vary from one to three years, depending on the job training requirements, starting in August / September 2014. The training allowance is £2.68 per hour for the first 12 months, and national minimum wage after that for longer apprenticeships.
Kirklees Council also has a number of apprenticeship opportunities this year.

• you will be given further details on our apprenticeships
• You will decide which apprenticeship you would like to apply for
• You will be asked to fill out a brief shortlisting questionnaire.
In order to progress your application further you will have to attend one of our recruitment workshops either on:
Tuesday 13th May in Huddersfield or Thursday 15th May in Batley
You must ensure that you are available to attend either date at either location – you will receive time slots via a confirmation email in advance of the workshops
