Mr John Gill of Denham Court, Batley is the lucky winner of a prize draw run by KNH.
John won £150 as a thank you for allowing a KNH surveyor to carry out an inspection of his home last year.
Angela Gill (John’s daughter), John Gill and Daniel Harper (KNH Surveyor)
The surveyor looked at both the inside and outside of his home, including the kitchen, bathroom, heating system, doors and windows.
The inspection was part of an authority-wide asset management condition survey that will help KNH to ensure that council homes in Kirklees continue to meet the government’s decent homes standards. Over 2,300 surveys were carried out.
Noel Chambers, KNH’s Director of Investment, said: “We’ve just invested over a quarter of a billion pounds into Kirklees Council properties through our decent homes programme and we want to make sure we maintain the standards we’ve set.
“It’s really important that our tenants let us in to do these surveys so we can get a clear picture of the condition of their homes. This will tell us the kinds of things that are going to need replacing in the future and will help us plan our future spending.”
The prize draw was suggested by a KNH surveyor to encourage tenants to give the surveyors access and to thank them for allowing a survey to be carried out on their home.
KNH Building Surveyor, Daniel Harper, presented John with his cheque, which he had chosen from a wide range of prizes offered by the KNH Excel reward and recognition scheme.
John said: “The survey only took 30 minutes and was no bother at all”.
“I was delighted with the service I received and it was a lovely surprise to hear that I’d won the prize draw. I’ve never won as much as £150 and it certainly came in handy just after Christmas.”
