Release Date: 20-Feb-2013
Following a review of the Kirklees Council Housing Allocations Policy a number of changes are being introduced that will affect some customers. One of those changes is the way in which we assess the number of bedrooms a customer needs.
The property size eligibility criteria will change from 25th February 2013 and will allow one bedroom for each of the following:
• a couple (married or unmarried)
• a person who is not a child (aged 16 or over)
• any two children of the same sex aged under 16
• any two children aged under 10
• any other child, (other than a foster child or child whose main home is elsewhere)
• a carer (or team of carers) who do not live at the property but provide overnight care
This means that from Wednesday 27th February 2013 customers will only be eligible for properties that meet these criteria. All applications received as of Monday 25th February should be assessed following this criteria.
Existing customers registered with Choose’n’move will be notified of this change and their application will be amended to reflect the correct bedroom entitlement week commencing Monday 25th February 2013.
