A scheme aimed at encouraging children to be good neighbours is being extended to Dewsbury this week, with the signing of a new partnership agreement between KNH and Westmoor Junior School in Dewsbury Moor.
The aim of the KNH Kids scheme is to encourage good behaviour amongst 7-11 year olds and for them to become more aware of how their behaviour impacts their homes and communities. It has been successfully piloted in two schools in Huddersfield and Batley for two years now.
Pupils from the school took part in signing the new partnership agreement
As part of the partnership, which lasts for at least five years, KNH staff will help teachers develop lesson plans and will also go into the schools to help with the teaching. This is being done on top of their normal jobs.
The children will learn about getting involved in their communities, respecting each other, the history of social housing and how to participate in community projects.
KNH will also sponsor sports kits and such to further encourage children to take part in healthy and positive activities.
Helen O’Sullivan, the scheme manager, said: “KNH’s mission statement is ‘quality homes and services in successful communities,’ and KNH Kids is one of the ways we’re helping build those successful communities.
“We are very pleased that Westmoor Junior School has joined our programme, which has already proved a great success with other schools within Kirklees.”
