Changes to the rules for temporary absences outside Great Britain came into force on 28 July 2016
The length of time you can receive housing benefit and pension credit while absent from home whilst abroad has been reduced to four weeks, as long as you
• Intend to return home
• Do not sublet the property while you’re away
• Do not intend to be away for longer than four weeks
