Those attending the special “taste of Asia” event enjoyed a range of activities, including Bollywood dance performances, laughing yoga workshops and henna. There were also performances by local poets, street dancers and majorettes, as well as traditional stalls to keep everyone entertained.

The event was organised by our Older People Support Service and was aimed at encouraging older people to stay active and to bring different age groups together to break down the sense of isolation that older people sometimes feel.

According to activities coordinator, Karina Sykes, “Fun and social activities for older residents are really important as they help retain and improve both physical and mental health and wellbeing, so I’m really pleased to see such a good turnout today. It was great to see so many of our older tenants coming together with the wider community to take part in all of the activities on offer.”

The event was kindly supported by Barclays Bank, Tesco and Asda.
