Con men are reported to be targeting residents in Brackenhall, trying to claim £1,000 from tenants for carrying out decorating work.
Two men, dressed in hard hats and high viz vests, have been going door to door, alleging that the payment is due for redecorating following roof repairs. Police are investigating the reports.
Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing (KNH) is currently carrying out some roofing work in the Keldregate and Colne Hurst areas and will soon be starting work to replace soffits and fascias on the Littlemore estate in Mirfield.
Any contractor working for KNH will have official identity badges and will never ask for payment of any kind, for any reason.
Remember, if you are approached by anyone claiming to be carrying out work in your area, always check their identity badge, never hand over any money, and if in doubt, close the door on them and check with your housing office to see if they are genuine contractors.
