The children took part in a design competition organised by Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing & Kirklees Council last autumn. There were 42 entries in total, which were displayed at the Windybank Christmas Fayre so that residents could vote for their favourite.

The winning entry was designed by Rohaan Hawkins aged 9, with Elise Turner aged 9 and Aleisha Smith aged 10 in second and third place.

The winners were presented with their prizes at the school’s special achievement assembly on Friday 13 January 2012.

The centre is home to a wide range of community activities, including tenants and residents group meetings, youth clubs, and older people’s activities.

KNH is keen to boost use of the community centre. If your group would like to use it or if you’d like to get involved in activities, please contact Sabrina Hussain, Community Engagement Officer, by emailing Sabrina.hussain@knh.org.uk or calling 01484 221723.
