Release Date: 12-Apr-2016
The annual KNH gardening competition is now underway and this year, we'd especially like to hear from anyone who wants to nominate their street.
The competition is open to council tenants, leaseholders and other residents on the estates we manage and aims to recognise the contribution that people who take pride in their gardens make to their local communities.
Last year's overall winner
Winner of the most helpful gardener category
An independent panel, headed up once again by local gardening expert Graham Porter, will judge winners in several categories, as well as choose an overall winner for the Borough. Graham is the former gardening correspondent for the Huddersfield Examiner and Radio Leeds and has worked in horticulture for over 40 years.
The categories are:
• Best individual garden
• Best street
• Best school
• Best food garden
• Best use of small space
• Best use of communal space
There’ll be prizes of gardening vouchers for category winners, as well as a bumper prize for the overall winner of the competition.
People can enter their own gardens or they can nominate a neighbour’s for an award. Full details and application forms are in the Spring edition of our tenants’ magazine, Door to Door (see link on right)
Alternatively, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org with
Address & postcode
If your are nominating a neighbour’s garden, please also include
their name, address & postcode and let us know if they're aware that you're nominating them.
The deadline for entries is Friday 13 May, but don't worry if your garden isn't at its best then - judging will take place in late-June, when it should be at its peak.
