Fieldhead residents are being invited to take part in the national ‘big lunch’ on Sunday (18 July).
The event, organized by Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing and Kirklees Council Communities & Leisure Service, is one of hundreds of similar events being held around the country to encourage neighbours to meet up for one day, enjoy a meal together and have fun.
Some food will be provided, but the idea of the day is that everyone also brings something to share with others so that the whole community takes part.
As well as lunch, there’ll also be sports activities, a quiz, bingo, inflatable laser quest, a sand pit for the younger ones, and prizes to be won, including a Fairtrade hamper.
Kirklees Council is working towards becoming a Fairtrade authority and will be supporting the ‘big lunch’. As well as learning more about what the scheme means, visitors will also be able to sample Fairtrade products such as tea, coffee, bananas and chocolate.
The event is being held on the grassed area in front of 107 Raikes Lane, Fieldhead from 12pm to 4pm. Everyone is welcome.
