They planted 20 different dwarf fruit trees as part of Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing’’s (KNH) Plant it, Grow it, Eat It Project. Once established, the trees will provide free fruit for the whole community to pick and enjoy.

Staff from KNH’s neighbourhood and community engagement teams also helped out, as the event supports the KNH Kids scheme. This aims to encourage good behaviour amongst 7-11 year olds and help them become more aware of how their behaviour impacts their homes and communities.

Plant it, Grow it, Eat it is a Lottery-funded project which aims to give people in north Kirklees the opportunity to grow their own fruit and vegetables, improving health and wellbeing and bringing communities together in the process.
