The charity, which provides vital support to people living with cancer, as well as their families, was the housing company’s corporate charity for 2014.

Fundraising activities included a number of topical events, including a World Cup sweepstake, KNH does Strictly dance sessions, and in July, a “Tour de Percy” sponsored exercise bike ride at the company head office. Individual staff also took part in the Leeds half marathon on behalf of Macmillan as well as a bowling competition against Macmillan staff.

The less sporty also had a chance to take part in the fundraising by buying home-made cakes, books, CDs, vintage items, raffle tickets as well as supporting a very popular tuck shop and taking part in a Christmas jumper competition and fuddle. Several male colleagues got in on the act by taking part in Movember to raise money and awareness of men’s health.

Over half of the amount raised - £4700 – came from the retirement living schemes managed by KNH, where staff and tenants organized a community fun day, sponsored walk, ladies’ night in, raffles, coffee mornings and sweet sales.

Stacey Rhodes is the regional fundraising manager for Macmillan. She said, “We are so grateful to everyone at KNH, including all the staff and tenants at the retirement granges, for choosing to support Macmillan by organizing and taking part in such a wide range of activities. By pulling together as a team, they have raised a phenomenal amount. We really can’t thank them enough.”

KNH Chief Executive Simon Rogers, said: “Our staff have done a fantastic job of supporting our chosen charity during the year, donating their time, effort and money to help make a difference.

“Macmillan provide a vital service that, sadly, too many of our staff and tenants have experienced first hand. I’m therefore very proud that we can support the life-enchancing work they do every day.”
