Release Date: 21-Aug-2012
Get your rent account up to date by making the most of the August catch-up week – that’s the message KNH is giving its tenants.
The week of 27 August is a non-payment week for KNH customers – but only for those with clear rent accounts.
If you owe rent, you must pay as normal on these weeks, and doing so will cut your arrears straight away.
Dave Bennett is head of the KNH team responsible for collecting rent on behalf of Kirklees Council. He said:
“Every pound we collect during this week immediately reduces outstanding arrears, so anyone who owes rent should pay as normal to help cut their debt.
“Collecting rent is as top priority for us because it pays for all the services we provide. We therefore take strong action against those who don’t think paying rent should be their priority.
“However, we also have a range of ways that we can help those who are doing their best to keep their rent payments up to date but are struggling to make ends meet.
“We have specialist advisors who can help people in the most difficult circumstances so if you’re a council tenant and worried about paying your rent, please give one of our advisors a call on 01484 414886 – we are here to help.”
As an incentive to encourage tenants to clear their arrears, those with up-to-date rent accounts and no breaches of tenancy are eligible to be part of the KNH Excel reward and recognition scheme, which includes regular competitions, special offers from Huddersfield Giants and Kirklees Active Leisure, as well as a discount card that enables members to save money at over 200 local businesses.
