Please check the following before placing an order:

  • Check the trip switches in the consumer unit.
  • If one of the switches is at 'off', unplug the appliance or switch off the light and reset the trip switch.
  • Switch on the light and plug the appliances back in one at a time to check if one is faulty and tripping the switch.
  • Do not use any faulty switch or socket
  • Do not touch exposed wires.
  • Do not touch wet fittings.
  • Don't overload sockets. Avoid double adapters-use only one appliance at a time in a socket.

  • Are other properties in the area affected?

  • Which circuit is affected: power, lighting or both?
  • If other properties are affected:

  • When checking the fuse or trip switch, reset trip and plug in appliances one at a time to see if appliance is at fault.
  • If it is considered to be an emergency the repair will be carried out by the next day.
Smoke or sparks from socket, light or switch

  • Is it dangerous?
  • Do not use.
  • Keep away
  • Switch electricity off at the meter.
  • If it is considered to be an emergency the repair will be carried out by the next day or within 2 hours if risk of danger to life or serious damage to property.
