Celebrating Fred's 100th Birthday and 100 years of Social Housing

Happy 100th Birthday
Last week we went to Mirfield to visit one of our oldest tenants, Mr Frederick Varley on his 100th birthday.

We visited him with a hamper full of goodies to celebrate his birthday and the celebration of 100 years of Social Housing. Our very own Interim Director of Resources Jo Tracey even baked Fred a tasty orange cake.

While we were there, Fred also had a visit from the post man with a special card from the Queen!

Fred has lived in social housing since 1989 and is one of our 14 tenants who are aged 99 or over. To celebrate 100 years of Social Housing we have been celebrating with them by giving hampers full of Yorkshire goodies donated by local business.

Mr Varley said: “I am happy living in social housing and enjoy it here. I have good neighbours and everything I need is close by. I used to live in Scout Hill but as I got older I moved into a bungalow and everyone has been really good to me since I moved in here.”

Happy Birthday Fred
